Very low emission values
Two separate tests. One matching TVOC figure.
A wall surface is in the room every day. So alongside how it looks and feels, what the material releases into the air matters.
Two emission tests document the same TVOC value for BELKA: 0.007 mg/(m²·h) . KCL additionally reports toluene 0.001 mg/(m²·h) and formaldehyde 0.003 mg/(m²·h) . KTR documents, for BELKA Cotton wall , benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylene, styrene, formaldehyde and acetaldehyde each below 0.001 mg/(m²·h) .

Tested material values
Not just described as natural. Evidenced by SGS.
“Natural” is easy to write on a label. What counts is what a laboratory finds when it analyses the material itself.
SGS tested BELKA for soluble heavy metals, BTEX solvents and free formaldehyde against GB 18582-2008 . Lead, cadmium, chromium and mercury were not detected (below the method detection limit), as were benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylene. Free formaldehyde was documented at 35 mg/kg against a test limit of 100 mg/kg .
What this means for you: the substances buyers most often ask about were looked for by an accredited laboratory and reported, rather than left to a marketing claim.

Tested material purity
Three samples. No asbestos fibres detected.
Material purity is not a question you want answered by assumption, particularly for a surface that covers whole rooms.
AxxonLab, together with Airtests Mattests, examined three BELKA product samples – Cotton Blanc, Cotton Noir and Cotton Bleu – by polarised light microscopy to IRSST MA-244 . No asbestos fibres were detected in any of the three samples. The same analysis documents 75–90% natural cellulose fibres as the principal material component.
What this means for you: the fibre base of the coating has been examined under a microscope and described in a report, so the natural-fibre claim rests on an analysis rather than on a description.

A calmer-sounding room

Hard, smooth walls reflect sound. That is why a freshly painted room can feel echoey and tiring long before anyone calls it a noise problem.
TÜV NORD Systems measured the tested BELKA build-up to DIN EN ISO 354 and DIN EN ISO 11654 and documents a weighted sound absorption coefficient of αw = 0.4 (MH), Class D , with absorption values reaching 0.80 in the measured range.
What this means for you: the fibre surface takes up part of the sound energy instead of bouncing it back, which softens hard reflections and makes conversation, music and working in the room noticeably more comfortable.

A wall that feels less cold
Tested thermal conductivity behind a real surface comfort difference.
Touch a painted wall in winter and it feels cold. That sensation is a material property, and it can be measured.
MPA NRW – the materials testing institute of North Rhine-Westphalia – tested BELKA to EN 12667 / DIN EN 12667 and documents a thermal conductivity of λ = 0.0675 W/(m·K) .
What this means for you: the cotton fibre surface draws heat away from your hand more slowly than a hard painted wall, so the wall feels warmer to the touch and the space near it feels more comfortable to sit and live in.

Fire behaviour tested to British standards
Class 0 – documented by Bodycote / warringtonfire.

Bodycote warringtonfire tested BELKA to BS 476 Part 6 and BS 476 Part 7 and documents a Class 0 surface on the basis of Approved Document B, paragraph A13(b), with a fire propagation index of I = 5.1 and Class 1 surface spread of flame .

Why it matters: a named report number a specifier can quote, rather than an unsupported “fire safe” statement.
B1 (B-s1,d0): smoke and droplets tested
s1: low smoke development · d0: no flaming droplets.
In a fire, smoke and burning droplets are what obstruct escape. That is why the classification carries two separate sub-ratings alongside the main class.
A test report to GB 8624-2012 classifies the BELKA cotton wall coating as B1 (B-s1,d0) , with measured values of FIGRA0.2MJ 0 W/s , THR600s 0.1 MJ , SMOGRA 0 m²/s² , TSP600s 34 m² and droplet class d0 .

Heat release measured and documented

A classification tells you which box a material falls into. Heat release figures tell you how much energy it actually contributes to a fire.
SGS measured the heat release rate of BELKA to GB/T 16172 and documents a peak HRR of 82.4 kW/m² , an average of 27.1 kW/m² over 180 s and 20.7 kW/m² over 300 s, with a total heat release of 10.0 MJ/m² .

BELKA is mixed with water and applied with a trowel. That makes the work clean, predictable and easy to do one section at a time.
There is no strong paint smell. Compared with many conventional redecorating jobs there is far less sanding dust, and walls can be done one after another rather than all at once.

Is BELKA sound absorbing?
Yes. TÜV NORD documents a weighted sound absorption coefficient of αw = 0.4 (MH), Class D for the tested BELKA build-up. That reduces hard sound reflections and supports a calmer, more comfortable room.
Is BELKA sound insulation?
BELKA absorbs sound and so improves room acoustics. The cotton fibre surface takes up part of the sound energy, reduces hard reflections and makes the room sound calmer. Structural sound insulation between rooms does a different job.
What does thermal comfort mean with BELKA?
The natural cotton fibre surface feels less cold to the touch than a hard painted wall. Comfort close to the wall improves, and the room reads as warmer and more welcoming. MPA NRW documents a thermal conductivity of λ = 0.0675 W/(m·K) for BELKA.
Is BELKA an insulation system?
BELKA is a high-quality interior cotton wall coating with documented thermal conductivity. Its strength is the more pleasant surface feel and the thermal comfort that comes with it. A structural insulation system performs a different technical function.
What fire evidence exists for BELKA?
BELKA has a fire profile documented several times over internationally. On the basis of tests to BS 476 Part 6 and BS 476 Part 7, Bodycote / warringtonfire confirms a Class 0 assessment. A further test report documents B1 (B-s1,d0) to GB 8624-2012. SGS adds quantitative heat release figures.
Were any asbestos fibres detected?
No. AxxonLab / Airtests examined three BELKA product samples by microscopic analysis. No asbestos fibres were detected in any of the three samples. The analysis also documents natural cellulose fibres as a principal material component.
